It’s my last post for a while, friends, so I feel entitled to beg a bit; if you read this, please shoot me a comment! My curiosity has been getting the best of me the past several months, and I want to know who you are. So, there, I’ve asked, and that’s that.
Once again, as I leave this country I have words for certain groups of people, but feel free to read them all; I didn’t reveal any deep, dark secrets. :)
To my church family at Oaklands: Thank you ever so much for allowing me to serve you, even in such a small capacity, over the past few months. I hope that you will continue to honour your pastor and his family, and don’t be intimidated by new ways of doing things; instead, test every new idea according to the Scriptures; what doesn’t collide with them could be a catalyst for growth and change in your community! Finally…good luck with the football club.
To my friends in the Christian Union: You are in no way a replacement to those friends I have from InterVarsity. I still say I have the very best friends in the whole wide world–there are just more of them now!
And I earnestly wish that I could take them all over to England and introduce you to them–or that I could take you home with me, either way. But I look forward with great expectations to the day when we’ll all meet together and I will get to introduce you to each other, if any introductions are necessary. In the meantime, be on the lookout in the fall for three Americans from UNC Charlotte who will be studying abroad there at Kingston; I have already told them about you. Finally, I wish to end with some words taken from Paul’s letter to the Philippians: “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved–and that by God” (Philippians 1:27-28 NIV, emphases mine).
To my English family: Thank you so much for your hospitality! I honestly could not have hand-picked a better living situation this semestre. Despite the fears of some, no, you are not too quiet, and no, my room was not too small. For my part, I feel that we were perfectly matched.
To Adrianna: Yes, we were perfectly matched, too.
To England: I’ll be back, God willing.
To all my readers: Don’t forget to leave a comment.
Thanks, and be seeing you!
This is Sierra, officially signing off…for now…
