I just received the most wonderful news today! Just out of the blue! And via Facebook’s “chat” feature, no less! (Technology just gets better and better!) You want me to share it with you?
Another of the Teaching Fellows at Charlotte just contacted me this afternoon to let me know that she accepted Christ as her Saviour yesterday! She related how she’s been working at Chick-Fil-A for a little while now (I’ve always loved that place!), and recently she’d been struggling within herself–she said that her soul was in torment, I think were the exact words. And, what do you know, when her manager invited her to church on Sunday, she made “the most important decision of her life”–her words, not mine, but I agree with them completely!–and accepted Jesus into her life. Amazing.
Now that I think about it, yesterday was a banner day for the church, from what I can tell. I mean, the service at Oaklands was splendid and worshipful, and last night I had the magnificent opportunity to witness two of my new English friends be baptised in the Thames River and to celebrate with them. And worship God.
But Kingston wasn’t the only place seeing great things happen in God’s family yesterday, obviously. Please, don’t be shy and let us all know what things God is doing in your church community these days! Feel free to leave your comments at the bottom of this page.
Praise God with me that His family is always growing! And please also pray for Krystal as she begins her new life. Finally, NEVER underestimate the impact that you could have on someone’s life even just by simply inviting them to church, Chick-Fil-A manager or not.
PS–I just realised today (4 June 2008 ) that, based on this post, good things only happen in the church every once in a while. Not true. It’s just that sometimes we become so accustomed to some of the things that happen (not a good thing, mind!) that we don’t even notice. So, again, let me offer you an opportunity to sit back and take a good look at what’s been happening in your local church lately, and feel free to encourage the rest of us with your news in the form of a comment!
Be seeing you!
Sunday evening Kenneth Cates spoke at our church. You remember Kenneth. He has been on the Amazon River for the past 40 years starting churches. I am always amazed at how God has used him. The villages along the Amazon will be forever touched by God through Kenneth and that is the true measure of a life.
I KNEW it was a banner day for the church!
