I don’t know if the sun ever shines in Dublin; I never saw it, at any rate, even passing through yesterday to get to Belfast. But I’ve a wonderfully sunny day today to explore the city until my flight this afternoon. The best news: somewhere, there’s a C. S. Lewis tour, which takes one around to places of his childhood and I think includes a statue of a young Lewis with a wardrobe. (If there’s no lamppost around, I’m going to have to petition the city to add one right there on the spot, because there should be. A pretty one.)
Belfast is far more likeable than Dublin. Less touristy, less rainy. But what makes the real difference is the existence of a Disney store. In fact, that was one of my first stops when I dropped in yesterday, somewhere between the tourist information centre for a map and the coffee shop for a tea. It boosted my spirits considerably (because yesterday was a rainy day) to hear Hannah Montana and High School Musical songs. Yes, it did, and no, I have no apologies.
When in Belfast overnight, I recommend finding out the Belfast International Youth Hostel and booking it for the night, if possible. It’s a nice one, almost more like a hotel than a hostel (except that you share dorm rooms with other people; that’s pretty much the only difference). Very nice, very clean–what more can you ask for in a hostel? That’s just my experience.
Ireland has treated me well this week, and God has blessed my trip in so many ways! So, I thank my family and friends for their prayers for my safety and health and stuff like that, and I now sign off from my last Internet Cafe post–until Monday. Where am I going next? Don’t worry; I’ll keep you posted.
Be seeing you!
