I’ve never had a blog before this one, but it sure reminds me of a lot of other things that I have done. Like writing e-mails. Or papers. Or Facebook notes.
But, seriously, folks—a blog is like a newspaper column. I can write anything I want on pretty much any subject, then publish it and hope that someone reads it someday. One major difference, of course, is that the format is not exactly the same; the blog isn’t exactly columnar, not in the same way newspapers are. Which brings up another point of contention: it’s not really in a newspaper. Besides that, though, a blog is exactly like.
Okay, here’s another one: a blog is like a diary. No, more like a journal. See, a diary is where you write your deep, innermost thoughts. Now, I may get deep, but innermost—um, no. Not online. A journal, on the other hand, just gives details of a day. It’s more general, less personal. Or is it the other way around? In any case, you get the idea.
I also find that blogging is a lot like talking to yourself. For me it is, anyway. Which is perfect, because I have a lot of experience in that area. No, I’m not crazy, but sure, I talk to myself all the time. As my great-granddaddy would have said, that’s about the only time when conversations make any sense.
Boy, it sure is nice to be in familiar territory.
