I feel as if there should be a banner on here somewhere that reads “Welcome to the Blogosphere, Sierra Martin!” And I’d say it’s about time. After reading other people’s blogs for months, now, I’ve been just itching to start one of my own. But I’ve had the self-control to wait until a whole month before I leave for England to study abroad. (No, I don’t know what her name is.) And now I just can’t take it anymore; it’s time to begin.
And I officially feel the need to insert a quote from Lord of the Rings right there—but I shall refrain. It’s not all that momentous, this blog.
Before I get too involved, though, I have just a few items of business to take care of.
First of all, there’s this issue of mail. Here’s what I’m thinking: if you want mail, send me your address, either via e-mail or Facebook, for the sake of safety. And I would also suggest that you do so even if you believe I may already have your address, because 1) I may not already have it and 2) I may not know you want mail.
Secondly, if you want to send me mail (because yes, I do want mail): ask me for my address. I’m sorry, I haven’t the courage to post it anywhere publicly, and I would hate to seem pushy by sending it to you automatically, without your having asked first. Don’t worry about ruining any surprises where I’m concerned. I’m easily surprised.
And, of course, feel free to leave comments at my proverbial doorstep. I’ll read them, honest, and I honestly love feedback—even the constructive criticism kind. Give me your questions, your advice, your encouragement, or your suggestions—but keep your foul language to yourself. I can almost guarantee that if you use such words, I’ll ignore whatever else you said in your comment, whether good or bad, because cussing totally deducts intelligence points from your score, and they’re pretty hard to earn back. Besides, my parents will be reading. So, if you wouldn’t say it in front of them, don’t write it—and if you would say it anyway, then I must question your upbringing.
If you are feeling discouraged and overwhelmed by today’s entry, then I have two words for you: don’t be. I’m just taking care of business. The business ends tomorrow, and the next few months’ posts should be much more light-hearted. Be seeing you!
Welcome
Sierra,
I just wanted to let you know that I bookmarked your page. I will be checking it quite often. I’m so excited for you but I’m going to miss you a whole lot. Any chance I’ll get to see you before you leave?
P.S. I tried really hard to keep my foul language to a minimum.
Caitlin–
Yes, there certainly is a chance that you’ll get to see me before I leave, but I’m still working out the details of my Charlotte visit. Sometime early next semester.
And thank you.
